Woodland Lake Hike

Only in Colorado can you be in shorts and t-shirts one day and the next day be in full winter gear. Seven hardy hikers left a cold, dreary Boulder to hike in a winter wonderland. Leaving from the Hessie Trailhead in a light snow, we hiked along an icicle-laden Boulder Creek to the Woodland Lake cutoff. Only past footsteps showed us the way until the footsteps stopped at bridge. Gingerly crossing the snow-covered bridge, we attempted to find the trail but to no avail. After post holing up to our knees in fresh powder for 200 yards, we decided that Woodland Lake would have to wait until next summer. But we had our first taste of winter and now look forward to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing!
