Anne U. White Trail Hike

Hike Sunday Dec 14th 2003

A beautiful balmy day greeted the hikers who enjoyed a Sunday morning foray into Boulder's foothills. They hiked in snow about 6 inches deep along the Anne U. White Trail, crossing a partially frozen steam 22 times in each direction of an up-and-back 3 mile hike.

The hike was billed as a slow-paced, enjoy-the-canyon hike, and it was just that. As an added bonus, the Outings Leader, Dave Hawley, shared information about hypothermia - what it is, what causes it, and how to prevent it - in preparation for hiking safely at higher altitudes under higher risk circumstances. Evette Auerbach, who is training to become a full-fledged Sierra Club Outings Leader, assisted Dave in leading the hike (Go Evette! - Ed). All enjoyed an opportunity to lead and see the beautiful wintry trail developing before their eyes.

Thanks very much to Dave Hawley for photo duties.
