Minutes

Committee Meeting - December 9th 2004

Action items are formatted like this.

Erie Comprehensive Plan

At this point it's probably not wise for Sierra Club to get involved in this process.

Longmont Transportation Plan

Julie will contact Longmont Sierrans (Jodie Pomma) to make sure they're aware of this process.

Regional Transit Committee

Bill Roettker reported that this committee's work is still ongoing, studying possibilities for expanding transit service in Boulder County.

Boulder TMP Action Plan Task Force

This committee is exploring options for increasing funding to achieve some of the Action Plan goals from the Transportation Master Plan. There is not a consensus as to the best method of raising revenue, so committee report will probably offer several options to City Manager and give pros and cons of each.

US36 EIS

Alan Streater is concerned that rail is being treated in a poor light by the consultants - slowing train speeds, adding stops, and making it non-competitive vs other modes. Alan will draft a letter addressing this issue to send to the EIS team. Will probably need to go thru Chapter transportation committee if it's still active. Dianna suggested that rail could be separated from the packages and analyzed separately. Bill and Dianna will put together a list of other concerns regarding the US36 EIS (# of road lanes, tolls, etc.) for S&T committee consideration. Bill will try to dig up what the Sierra Club has already sent to the US36 EIS team.

BVCP update

Steve reported that Boulder City Council decided to proceed with a work plan for possible service area expansion after Planning Board voted against it. The S&T committee needs to study the staff report on BVCP to more fully understand their positions. We might want to provide some comments on other BVCP components, e.g how additional annexations might be considered in the future (given how Voijta Farms and Northfield Commons were handled). Steve and Dianna are points of contact for additional comments on the BVCP update.

City Council

Andy S. has asked about meeting with S&T members. Julie will follow up.

Boulder Breeze

Mark reported that the concept is developing support, including realtors and Chamber of Commerce. Lisa Morzel and Gordon Riggle have added their support.
