Boulder Transit Village

Planning Board and City Council held hearings and made some decisions since last month's committee meeting. Planning Board increased mixed use component throughout the area. City Council seemed concerned about buy-in from property owners in the area. Bill will check with Louise Grauer about what final decisions Council made. Is there anything the committee can do to supply information regarding the winkelerf design?

I-70 transit

A CDOT commissioner has proposed eliminating any future study of transit in the I-70 mountain corridor. An email with information on how individuals could respond was sent to the committee last week.

Ecopass sustainability committee held its first meeting last week. Bill Roettker is a member. S&T committee could be very useful if someone is interested in researching state-of-the-art fare collection systems and pass programs in other parts of the country or even around the world.

Future issues

We discussed how the committee might establish and update a list of short- and mid-term (2-6 months) issues we should be preparing for. Ucoming issues: US36 and Northwest Rail EIS, Transit Village milestones, I-70 mountain corridor, Ecopass, city board appointments, updating Boulder Greenpoints program.

Implementation of the voter-approved climate action plan might be an opportunity for joint efforts between S&T and the energy committee.

Ron attended an energy conference in Vail. Emphasis of discussions seemed to be keeping options open, particularly maintaining petroleum sources. Some discussions of conservation and alternative sources.

Big issue/vision discussion:

Are there any national SC committees or other outside organizations we can hook up with? Are there other opportunities for getting involved in "big picture" environmental issues, like Apollo Alliance, newly-elected governors emphasis on alternative energy. Should we consider a working group focused on big strategic issue (in collaboration with Energy committee)?
