Sprawl and Transportation CommitteeMinutesCommittee Meeting - Sept 8th 2005Action items are formatted like this. (Please send any corrections or clarifications to Bill Roettker) In attendance: Steve Nicholoff, Diana Shannon, Betsy Hand, Julie Caron, Bill RoettkerThe Sierra Club Rocky Mountain Chapter is eager to get environmental sustainability requirements included in the Denver Union Station Environmental Impact Statement, draft is expected this winter. Anyone interested in this activity should contact Bill Roettker. Transit VillageSeveral committee members attended public meetings this past week. First workshop focused on character of different uses in the Transit Village area: urban housing, industrial mixed use, retail, and public places. Some participants objected to selecting urban character before deciding land use or transportation network, but there seemed to be a consensus among participants about the desired character. This is a wonderful opportunity for S&T committee members to influence how a large portion of east Boulder may be redeveloped over the next ten years (push for strong green building requirements, pedestrian/transit-friendly transportation network, improving jobs/housing balance), so please consider attending upcoming meetings at West Senior Center, 909 Arapahoe: Friday,
Sept. 16 - 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Speaker: Dena Belzer, Berkeley, Calif.
