Sprawl and Transportation CommitteeMinutesCommittee Meeting - February 9th 2006
Action items are formatted like this. Transit Village Area Plan (TVAP) UpdateUpcoming public hearings on updated vision and goals for TVAP, borders of planning area, and rail platform location. Planning Board recommended that planning focus on the transit hub roughly between Pearl, Foothills, Valmont, and 30th. Dates for public hearings: TAB March 13, Planning Board March 23, City Council April 4. Alan will re-distribute the S&T statement that Mark produced, for final comments then submittal to ExComm. Need this approved by Planning Board meeting, City Council meeting at the latest. BiodieselEric reported on some additional research he's done. He found some additional studies that indicate biofuel can generate up to 250% of the energy needed to produce it, which contradicts some other studies that show biofuel is not economical. Biofuels also produce fewer greenhouse gases and particulates when burned. Eric was not able to find any official SC information on biodiesel, but one SC chapter in the northwest US has supported a local biodiesel program. Quality standards have recently been developed that should address cold weather issues with biodiesel. Next steps: case studies (Eric has contact information for Susan Conover (city of Denver) and CU), Boulder County fleet, potential collaboration with Energy committee? I-70 CorridorWe will recommend to IPG ExCom that IPG join the I-70 NGO coalition. Betsy Hand has agreed to be IPG rep.
